GASTRITIS –

NATURAL MANAGEMENT PROTOCOL

What is Gastritis?

Gastritis is the inflammation, irritation, or erosion of the protective lining of the stomach.

It can be sudden (acute) or develop slowly over time (chronic).

 Common Causes

  • Excessive use of painkillers (NSAIDs)

  • Bacterial infection (H. pylori)

  • High intake of spicy, oily, or fried foods

  • Excessive alcohol consumption or smoking

  • High levels of mental stress

 Common Symptoms

  • Burning ache or pain in the upper abdomen

  • Nausea and occasional vomiting

  • Feeling of fullness shortly after eating

  • Frequent burping or bloating

  • Loss of appetite

 Lifestyle Role

  • Eating meals at fixed times prevents acid buildup

  • Managing stress reduces "acid wash" in the stomach

  • Avoiding late-night heavy meals protects the stomach lining

  • The goal is to soothe the lining and balance stomach acid.

 Tests (If Needed)

  • H. pylori test (Breath, stool, or blood test)

  • Endoscopy – to look at the stomach lining

  • Stool test – to check for hidden blood

 Naturopathy Management (With Home Remedies)

  • These remedies can be safely done at home unless advised otherwise:

  • Drink Coconut Water: it is alkaline and soothes the stomach lining

  • Cold Milk: a few sips of cold, plain milk can neutralize acid

  • Ginger and Honey: a small piece of ginger with honey aids digestion

  • Fennel (Saunf): chew 1 tsp after meals to reduce gas and acidity

  • Aloe Vera juice: 20ml on an empty stomach to heal the lining

  • Avoid "triggers": caffeine, citrus juices, spicy chili, and sodas

  • Drink plenty of water throughout the day (but not during meals)

 Yoga & Pranayama (Home Practice)

Simple practices that can be done at home:

  • Gentle Movements

  • Vajrasana (thunderbolt pose) – the only pose done after meals for 5–10 mins

  • Cat-Cow stretch – improves circulation to the digestive tract

 Yoga Asanas

  • Paschimottanasana – massages the abdominal area

  • Shavasana – crucial for reducing stress-induced acidity

  • Pavanamuktasana – helps release trapped gas

 Pranayama

  • Shitaly Pranayama (cooling breath) – very effective for stomach burning

  • Anulom Vilom – 10 minutes

  • Bhramari – to calm the mind and reduce stress-related acid

 Daily Care Tips

  • Chew your food 32 times until it becomes a paste

  • Do not lie down immediately after eating; wait at least 2 hours

  • Use a higher pillow if you experience "nighttime burning"

  • Eat a bland diet (khichdi, curd rice) during flare-ups

 Important Note

  • Seek medical help if you see blood in vomit or black stools

  • Do not rely on antacids long-term without finding the root cause

  • If pain is severe and persistent, consult a gastroenterologist
